Following the series of jigsaw puzzles dedicated to world landmarks, now it's the turn of the USA edition, a new puzzle collection by Lena Games with photographs of the north American country. The collection is varied and contains 100 pictures of famous locations, with countryside images as well as daily life scenes in the USA cities. Some also show traditional celebrations and sports at different seasons of the year.
As in the other titles of the series, you can create and customize your puzzle in a quite straightforward manner. You just pick your favorite photograph from the jigsaw gallery and choose the number of pieces you want your puzzle to have. This number ranges from 96 to 2700, and for some pictures the option goes up to 4750. There is also a set of figure shapes you can select to cut your puzzle, from the typical puzzle figure to non-conventional shapes like flowers, numbers, and even animals.
While completing your puzzle, a menu on the top puts at your disposal tools that can help in several ways. You can, for example, change the default background color and pick one that better suits your current puzzle, or display a thumbnail of the picture. Extra windows and pockets help you organize numerous pieces in large puzzles. Another tool I found very helpful is the resizing magnifying glass, useful to deal with tiny pieces. Also, you can use shortcuts to switch windows or move/rotate pieces.
The trial version of the game comes with 5 photographs for you to try it out, and with a $14 registration fee you get a full-featured game plus the chance to download more pictures to your collection from the Lena Games website.
